Do you hear that sound? There's music in the air. That's the sound of summer! My man and I have been hitting up every summer music festival we can. First we descended on the sleepy small town of Montebello, Quebec, for Amnesia Rockfest. 100 000 metalheads swarm like locusts and turn their marina into a geat urine swamp. For me the highlight was getting to hear Chino Moreno of the DEFTONES scream like a banshee. Electrifying!
Next was the Summer Solstice Aboriginal Arts Festival where I got to enjoy a very intimate Holly McNarland concert and got to meet her after her performance. What a treat!
Then onto the Dragonboat festival to see the great Canadian rock band SLOAN
and to the Jazz Festival to see living legend, Willy Nelson!
Now Bluesfest is in full swing. We've got the festival pass and we've been there open to close every day!
Day one Grand Funk Railroad
Day two (my favourite show so far) Flogging Molly
and day three Blue King Brown (she covered the Doors).
Day four had Wu Tang Clan and Everlast
but I was really wowed by the amazing one-man-act Shakey Graves
the cool blues sound of the Fenton Brothers and their cover of Red Rooster
and last of the night but certainly not least, the voice of the Animals, Eric Burdon, who sang Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood and House of the Rising Sun.
Yesterday we saw Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (what a voice!)
followed by Canadian icons Rush.
So many more great acts to come in the days ahead and then August brings with it HeavyMTL to cap off this musical time of year!
Holy shit! I was so distracted by my music filled summer I almost forgot about my set! It's my first set in over five years and third ever on this site! It was shot by my man Bobhead and edited by Shazzy
and my favourite out-take from the set:
I wish everyone a magical, musical summer!
