If I ever find out who knifed my tire the night before I flew down to San Diego I will kill them in a slow, painful way. Thanks to that little surprise I arrived at the airport 6 minutes after my flight took off, had to go on stand-by for a later flight that was delayed nearly 3 hours, and had to rebook my return flight as well. Why? Apparently, when I missed the first leg of my itinerary the entire thing was automatically cancelled. Alright, I could deal with that. I rebooked for a day later than I had originally planned and went on my merry way to sit in front of a gate for 4 hours. The flight, while bumpy, was over quickly and I arrived in San Diego without further incident. I've spent the last week hanging out with friend and family, receiving far too many gifts, and generally being spoiled.

A few hours ago I thought it would be prudent to call the airline and confirm my reservation, especially since I had no physical ticket. I called and have since spent 2 hours trying to determine why the hell there is no computer record of my flight reservation for today. The first person I talked to told me that unless I find the paper tickets which were apparently placed in the same envelope as my boarding pass for the flight to San Diego and are consequently now in a landfill somewhere I will have to buy new one-way tickets. After conferring with my more seasoned family members I concluded that this was bullshit and had one of them call. It was eventually determined that I'll have to pay a change fee of $100 and either show up at the airport to go on stand-by for the flight I was reportedly booked on OR call a partner airline and try to get them to book me on that same flight.

And now.....I sit on hold.

Alright, it's the next morning. After giving up on Alaska Airlines and going to American Airlines I managed to get things straightened out just as they should have been in the first place. No change fee, no stand-by, just nice, smooth, check-in and flight. The two hour drive home was wonderfully soporific, but I managed to find the energy to lug all 3 suitcases and backpack up to the fourth floor and unpack them!

I'm about to go take a much-needed shower and then test out my new VEG box thing. Soon......soon I will be able to play DDR whenever I damn well please! MWAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!

Trivia: Goddamn I hate dealing with airlines.

I hate flying.
I'd like to think I'll never do it again, but I know I'm just kidding myself.
Happy New Year!
