I'm staying in tonight. I'm watching TV and my mind keeps drifting back to the first time I saw The Running Man. I remember watching Schwarzenegger run through frame after frame, brutally slaughtering the futuristic gladitors. Only to find himself face to face with Justice incarnate. That's right, Jesse 'The Body". Arnold beats the hell out of him and stomps away to kill more people. All of this in front of a live studio audience.
I recall thinking to my self; "That's Crazy, there's no way that people would watch that such brutality for entertainment." There's no way that society would stoop that low. Life would have to be completely meaningless to throw it away just to entertain the masses.
"Who wants to marry a millionaire?"
"Married by America"
"Joe Millionaire"
"The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette"
Has love become so meaningless that we throw it away to entertain the masses? I listen to the way that these people talk and it disturbs me. I hear people saying words like "win", "defeat", "opponents", and "Victorius". They're not using these words metaphorically, they're playing a game and the winner gets to marry the Trophy. I don't see people trying to find love, I see people playing with emotions like they're Play-Doh. Feelings are not to be toyed with or manipulated. Marriage can't be a Grand prize for the most politic liar.
I'm losing faith here.
