I'm so responsible. I actually got up at a reasonable time, got dressed in clothes that befit the weather, ate a healthy breakfast and attended all my classes. I must be an asshat. Or turning into my parents. Oh well, I suppose that there are far worse old people to turn into. Oooh, Turkey Day is sooo soon! It will be fabulous. Sometimes we have our whole, extended family around, but, thankfully, this time we only have our nuclear fam. and my cute, little grandparents. I suppose that being thankful that annoying relatives aren't around isn't exactly an appropriate "thanks" to announce when we go around the table, is it? I guess I'll just have to lie then.
After my brush with responsibility, I began cleaning my room, but got sucked into the vacuum that is THE INTERNET. I swear, I used to be a complete technophobe, and now I can't live without it. It's ridiculous. I almost can't even study in my own room anymore. At least this bout of internet time killed the asshattedness of being uber-responsible. Then Absinthe and I went up "the hill" and got a pail of...um...actually we only got bank business taken care of and then we nerded it up in the Safeways. We walked up and down the aisles, being super melodramatic about everything. For example, when we went through the alcohol freezer section, we kept behaving as though it would kill us to touch mainstream beer, or boxed wine and shrieking that we were going to die whenever we noticed something new. We're such fucking weirdo elitists. meh.
Went to dinner, had..um...a "tiffle" with my roommate. Went with friends to Le Tigre. One of the opening bands for Le Tigre was the best thing ever; Lesbians on Ecstasy. So energetic and wonderful. Good preparation for the main event. I'm really, really not a fan of the average all ages venue crowd. I need to get a fake i.d. Le Tigre performed sooo well, but there were a bunch of 14-16 year old hot-topic-punks who kept trying to mosh. Plus, there was a gaggle of OBVIOUSLY underage girls who took off all their clothes and were rubbing against each other. Even if one takes the "to hell with modesty" approach to that, I mean, there seems to be a very dangerous element to being surrounded by a hostile crowd without any clothes on at all. When people crowd-surf, there's usually a fair bit of groping going on and I just think that the sketch factor is high for something in the same vein, but much more serious to happen to them. aack. Le Tigre is for eccentric, adorable girls who want to dance their silly dances, not for those who want to mosh in the nude. Any show that I've been to at one of the underage venues around town has had millions of "those people" who go to the same venue every week no matter who's playing and then just go and try to look bored while shoving you with their needle-sharp elbows. During the middle of the show, this very pushy woman who had been pissing everyone off, got onstage and started dancing around the members of the band. It was hard to tell exactly what she was doing, but she appeared to be propositioning them and she kept touching them in ways that were obviously making her uncomfortable. Luckily, the woman got kicked out. scary.
In conclusion:
Le Tigre rocks!
Check out Lesbians on Ecstasy
I love you all!

I know for sure my friend's girlfriend is in biochemistry. I can't speak for the other two. I can say that these two thought our group of friend's were going to be a bunch of yuppies who talked about remodeling houses and/or a bunch of narrow-minded conservatives who spent our free time shooting guns in the wilderness. We won them over with hilarity.

Library school is in fact a real endeavor. It's a two-year Master's Program. Not only does one need to familiarize themselves with the latest, countless resources and technology, but there is an ass-load of theory concerning information usage patterns, community-based program planning, and policy development. Add a few things like literary familiarization and grant writing, and you get a feel for two years just covering the surface of things I felt I should know before heading into the workforce.

Speaking of glasses, it was quite the coup in my school that I didn't wear any, or contacts for that matter. It was unfathomable to my classmates. A few times I caught some of them looking at my profile to see if I was lying about not wearing contacts. That being said, I wish I looked cute in glasses.

Doesn't Newberg's library have a Charlie Brown-type Christmas tree?
