yay, happy halloween! i love this holiday, so much fun!
i bought a pumpkin yesterday! usually i'll carve one earlier than the day of, but with everything going on right now, it totally slipped my mind until i walked past them at the grocery store. i probably would have skipped it this year, but hubby comes back on tuesday, and he loves my roasted pumpkin seeds <3 i wonder how i should decorate it...
i'm so excited about tonight! my friends and i are going to the nightmare on normal street block party, and i can't wait! my costume is all ready to go and looks great, but i'm even more excited about seeing everyone else's. i hear they get pretty elaborate
also, this year i've decided to personally celebrate dia de los muertos that's one of the things i like about not belonging to a religion, i can celebrate any holiday that interests or means something to me i already have a shrine dedicated to inspiring women, the virgin mary and other female saints, beauty (the shrine is made from my bedroom vanity, after all), etc, but will remove most of the decorations so i can devote it to my grandmother and other family members and friends who have passed. i got some decorations in old town, but i might head back this weekend because i don't have any sugar skulls. ooh, and fresh flowers. i visited my grandmother's grave during my last trip, but didn't leave anything, since she didn't celebrate it. instead i just smoked a cigarette (one of the things we always did together in defiance of the rest of the family ), reminisced silently, and tidied up her grave. i think i'll also bring out the family cookbook and make some goodies, my great-grandmothers were awesome bakers. also, that way hubby will have lots of delicious treats to come home to
well i should get going, got lots to do before tonight! but just for fun, some pics before i go!
this is a terrible picture, but it's the only halloween pic i have on the computer so back off! this was in 2005, and even though you can't tell that we are dressed up as ash (evil dead) and a french whore, you CAN tell how ridiculously hammered we were.
last year in old town for dia de los muertos. only three more days until we can hold each other once more! <3
have a fun and safe halloween, my darlings!

sounds good, at least I'm 21 now and I can go out to some of the gatherings... it just sucks that my schedule puts my weekend on monday and tuesday.
