the dog hunt continues, unfortunately with the same result.
so last friday we went to the sd animal shelter. we found a dog we really liked, and brought eppie up there to meet her (the dog's name is mandy, a pit mix).
the worker who was with us for the introductions (holly) rubbed me the wrong way from the very beginning. she seems like the kind of person who's spent her whole life around animals (which would be weird considering her obvious apathy for them) and never really learned how to interact with people. the first words out of her mouth were "of all the pits here, mandy isn't my favorite," and then proceeded to say anything she could to discourage us from adopting her. oh, and apparently i have no idea what type of dog i have. i couldn't have been more wrong in thinking that eppie was possibly a staffordshire mix.
eppie and mandy DID NOT like each other, so she was out of the question no matter what. what bothered me though, was the fact that holly was so quick to prove all the nasty things she said about mandy from the beginning. no, they didn't get along, but they were only given a few minutes, female dog usually take longer to get along (if at all), eppie was already scared by a puppy who chewed her out as soon as she came in, and mandy was an 8 month old unspayed puppy who's spent god knows how long in a fuckin cage! of course she won't have the social graces of a mature adult! but holly kept saying, "see, i'm right. she's unadoptable."
i finally said "well, is there anything else you have to say to discourage us from adopting her? because you obviously don't want her to find a home." and she said, "yes, you're right. i am trying to discourage you. i don't want her to find a home, because i don't think she's a good dog." WHAT THE FUCK! maybe she wasn't right for us, but does that mean she's not right for anyone???
throughout this whole ordeal she is also talking shit about pits in general, saying that no amount of training will change any kind of aggressive behavior. she said they were just wired a different way than other dogs. what the hell is she doing working for a shelter when she discourages adoptions and says ignorant and negative things about a breed that makes up almost half of the dogs there?
i hope i see her walking down the street some day...
anyway, we did find a dog that justin really liked, but he had two holds on him already, and was already gone when we went back the next day to see if he was still there.
so we're back to square one. yesterday we went to the dog beach with rin and uproot, and they suggested we try the shelter up at camp pendleton. we'll try that later this week, along with the shelter again. wish us luck!
ps. here are some pics from my latest photoshoot from when we went to texas!

and i hate the stupid animal shelter people.. most psycho animal people are dumb anyway. you think they would be glad someone wanted the poor dog instead of just being cunts.
