Misadventures in road debris.
It started off like any other night. Matt, Nikki, and I were excited about an awesome show at the Cats Cradle.
THE ENGLISH BEAT with Lynval Golding of The Specials and Pualine Black of The Selecter...Dance Crazed Too!
With special guests Westbound Train
"Two hours of Ska, Reggae and 80's hits!"
Is how the Cat's Cradle described it, and I'm sure it was.
We all met at my house.. Nikki and I had talks previously of rum and coke... So she doctored up a couple 20 oz's for the road. And off we go. Hooray!
We head from my house to 540 for a shortcut to Chapel Hill.
We're having a jolly time picking out random music and bobbling around in the car.. drinking our rum and cokes. yummy.. I'm scouriing Matt's Ipod for the next random song to get excited about, when out of nowhere "BOOM" followed by a shrill scream from Matt. hahah (Nikki thought it was for the song)
We hit a tire. That's right boys and girls... a tire in the road.
It didn't seem like a big deal. The car was still running. Until.. "DING...... DING..... DING..... DING DING DING! I SAID DING DAMMIT!" The coolant light flashing like crazy... Apparently the tire broke off the bottom piece of the front fender and pierced the radiator. sad sad sad
We pull off at exit 276 for the Southpoint mall. The car barely made it to the top of the exit. Sad.
Then the reality of missing perhaps the most exciting ska show in years sets in. At least it was eased by the rum and coke.
Anyway long story somewhat shorter... I called Rob... Matt called roadside assistance... Two very nice guys helped push the car off the road while Nikki steered.. The tow truck came.. are all tow guys very large?
The car was taken to the dealership.. and we then decided to go to Steak and Shake..
Fun times.. No ska.. Made me sad.
