Movie Madness!!!!
Ok. Netflix may officially be the new crack.
And as we all know "Drugs are bad"
I decided to get "The Pianist"
Wow. It was a good movie but wow. I thought I was going to puke at a few parts. The movie gave me a headache. I knew what to expect going in to it, but it made the holocaust seem so real to me. (real to me: as in I wasn't there and didn't live through it, but it gave me as much perspective as I think any movie could)
It made me happy that my Grandfather Elias was one of many americans that fought to end it.
It is hard for me to believe that people could really be so wicked, so hateful, so sinister. How could you lack compassion for your fellow man? Kill them off without a second thought? I just can't even imagine. This very idea might make my head explode.
I think everyone should see it at least once. To see what happens when a society thrives on hate. I cannot believe there are people that think that it never happened. I cannot believe that there is such thing as a neo-nazi in this world. I cannot believe that genocide still happens to this day throughout the world. And why are the Jews and the Christians forced to make themselves known in Iran, to wear armbands/signage similar to the armbands that the jews had to wear at the start of the Holocaust. That is a bad sign, I'm sure.
On a much needed lighter note.....
One of the other movies was "High Spirits" which just may be my favorite movie of the 80's if not one of my all time favorites. If you haven't seen it, then you really should.
It's kind of a spooky cheesy romantic comedy
When Peter Plunkett's Irish castle turned hotel is about to be repossesed, he decides to spice up the attraction a bit for the 'Yanks' by having his staff pretend to haunt the castle. The trouble begins when a busload of American tourists arrive - along with some real ghosts. Among the tourists are married couple Jack and Sharon. Sharon's father holds the mortgage on Castle Plunkett, so she's hoping to debunk the ghosts. Jack, on the other hand, after meeting pretty ghost Mary, is very eager to believe. Can there be love between a human and ghost? Jack and Mary are going to try and find out.
The two main ghosts are played by liam neeson and daryl hanna. Hilarious.
Fin.
