Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!
I was lucky to spend time with both families and some friends over the last few days. Fitting 2 families in, over 300-some miles, and blizzard road conditions - it was still an absolute blast. I wouldn't change the white-knuckle driving for a thing.
As far as feeling like a true adult, I just feel goofy due to my gifts. My parents bought me a new chandelier and some light fixtures for my house. I never thought I would be so excited to swap this stuff out. In my defense, the current house fixtures are bronze and rose gold, etched and glazed glass panels...no two fixtures are the same or even match. Someone had a field day choosing every light in the store when this place was built.
I've owned this home for 7 years now, and I love it more every day. It is truly fun to have a place of your own to doll up. I'm not one for super decor, a lot of my wall hangings are tin automotive signs and the like... but I still enjoy it. At least, my goal is to have each room tell a story (as long as the light fixtures pull it all together).
Having been a mechanic for 10 years, and extremely driven to tinker on things... I get home and start tearing out the old lights... I have the first victim down, and one new ceiling fan installed. It's insane how one simple thing changes the look of a room. I've decided to tackle the kitchen fixture tomorrow, aaaaand unfortunately I'm going to hire someone for the front hall.... 35-foot vaulted ceilings are not my forte. :D
Anywho, I hope everyone got a little something they were looking forward to, even if it was as simple as a phone call from a loved one. Love you all ^_^
