I woke up this morning and started working on my Macbook Pro... actually, I was looking at some naughty pictures before starting work, but I digress. Anyhoo, so I'm bopping around the Web and suddenly, Pfffft! Screen goes black. Panic sets in. I try a million different things to get the computer working again, and nothing works (granted, I'm not very computer literate so the stuff I tried centered on pressing the on/off button a bunch of times while holding down various keys - not knowing why I was even holding them down - and taking out the battery and putting it back in, ha ha).
Needless to say, I started freaking out. So, I set up a Genius appointment at the closest Apple store, and after determining that it wasn't the hard drive or any of the mechanical systems (mother board, optical drive, power supply, etc.) they temporarily move my data, wipe the hard drive and do a fresh install of the operating system. Presto! Everything's working again, and now I'm typing this entry on it.
I will always love Apple. Oh, but I do need to replace my power adapter because the cord is frayed. And, I'll need a new battery. But, what a great company. I know they take a lot of heat for their need for secrecy, and their general Big Brother-ness, but they truly inspire loyalty. I can honestly say I've never had a really serious problem with any of their products.
I only wish I had more money and could afford more of their stuff.

but I still carry the secret flame...
they do tend to have well put together laptops, with easy to upgrade parts and an eye towards longievity.
I used my ibook for years and years. Hell I still have a clamshell I book that works, albeit sloooooowly.
i'm very tempted to get an iphone.....
my husband (who hates apple) and I are going to do a 'family plan' which will have data because of his work and thus this eliminates my cheapo argument against fancy data phones (700$ over 2 years for data which I don't need...but this way his work will pay for us to have data)
We're still thinking about what carrier though. we have at&t and have been considering verizon and sprint. sprint he may get the cheapest because of a deal through work. It's so hard to get any real comparison of them though.
sorry....phone digression.,., was cause I was looking at the iphone on the apple page recently.
secret apple lust!
i hear rumors about iphones going on verizon, but since the new iphone4 is still at&t I sort of doubt that they're switching any time soon....I had been wondering if they'd do it with the iphone4 but apparently not....
