I am a week into the new office gig!
It's not a bad way to get in. I'm much less bored than I expected I would be, since there's much more admin and data entry stuff I have to do. It sucks that I have to put someone else on phone duty if I have to so much as walk across the office or go to the bathroom, especially cause I know everybody hates it. For me, it's my job. I'm ok with that.
I thought it would be far more unpleasant, but worth it for the money. But seriously, a 30min commute that I can drive (that actually saves me money), an attention to detail, temperature regulation, and a sense I'm part of a machine that's just a little more productive and less broken then the last is just awesome. Then there's access to a gym for free on the first floor that just makes this whole adventure terrific. I don't get my first paycheck for another week (and I do not know how much my take home is until that happens) so I don't really know exactly how much better off I'll be financially. But with the perks, I don't really care. That's the best part.
The company certainly ain't perfect (I'll be complaining about supremely stupid and arrogant VP soon enough), and I may come to feel creatively stilted, but for now, I am a happier worker than I was a week ago.
Love to you...
