I live around NYC, and was living in it in clear view 9 years ago, so this is a sad day (still) for many here.
I can't stand that it's called Patriot Day. That name has no connection at all to what was felt here where it happened. It's like the label was made to acknowledge the rest of the country and make them feel more included, and to help foster some sense of national pride. Cause why? Some zealot psychos flew planes into tall buildings to cause maximum damage with maximum visibility.
Sure, it was a time people showed their real stripes. Sure people helped each other in ways that lifted spirits when such lifting should have been impossible. But that didn't make us patriots. It made us good people.
