I'd hate y'all to think I stayed down. I wish I had the opportunity to blog more often and share what I'm up to these days! It would probably mean taking even more time taking photos to share and might even result in more poetry, fiction, and other creative writing. It would be a nice way to tackle this zigzagging, perhaps.
So now I'm here in the nearly empty office bloggin on suicidegirls. Sweet. Nice use of work-hours.
Meanwhile,
I'm NOT going to a Sikh wedding in Toronto next month. That's funny, you think, when WAS I going to a Sikh wedding next month?
Well, I find out a few days ago that my closest friend from elementary school (who I still kinda keep in touch with) is getting married next month in Toronto. She sends my sister a message saying my whole family is invited, I find out that my man is of course invited as well. That's when I find out my boyfriend has never had a passport, as the only country he has ever been to besides this one is Canada, and that was back before you needed a passport to cross the border. While waiting time for passports has improved, there really isn't a lot of time here.
That's only the first problem.
Then I find out the wedding is on a Friday, not on a Saturday like I thought. This would mean missing more work after being away on vacation the entire week before. Can't miss too much, so I'd have to figure out how to be at work at least all of Thursday before Friday's wedding.
Then of course, there's how to get there. Google LIES when they say Mississauga is 8 hours away. It would be a 10-12 hour drive to Canada. Moreover, the wedding starts at 9AM. I can't just drive to it and be sane and awake. Then there's the bus, but I'm not a sadist.
So how about flying? We could fly there Thursday night, book two nights at a hotel, and fly back.
Sounds great.
So assuming I could get my boss to give me another day off (which I'm sure she'll do as long s I don't expect any money for the day, which I can't afford), and assuming my boyfriend could get a passport in time (hmmmm), all I'd have to do is wrestle up around $800 for flights, hotel, transportation, food, and wedding present before the end of August.
My bank account says NO.
So while I would really, REALLY love to be there, I'll be here. I do have a whole week of vacation before that, which I intend to enjoy thoroughly. I'll send my regards with the deep with that I knew sooner.
If I knew sooner, I'd be heading to Canada!
Tis not to be.
Wow, I STILL owe you guys that exciting awful family news from last month.
