Tonight I sat down and made myself watch some movies I've been putting off. One: Barfly, I haven't seen this in years. I haven't seen this since I became a severe Bukowski admirer.
Two: Immortal Beloved. If you are not a stupid inefectual person that actually cares about life, you need to watch this movie. What Beethoven felt became his music. Granted, we can listen to whatever bands we're into and really identify with Matt Skiba being lonely, the pain of Robert Johnson poured into his blues, or the plight and sadness that Johnny Cash saw. But, no one, and I guarantee no one, felt what Beethoven felt when he wrote a song. He, in my opinion knew passion, suffering, love, and loss, greater than any other musician. He truly is a genius.
On a side note, I just got off a 3 hour straight writing binge, I wrote a whole "short" story that was inspired from the two movies. It's about a man that is addicted to food but he's trying to kill himself by eating to death. He doesn't have the money to binge till he chokes so he's trying to invoke a heart attack by eating the worst possible food he can. I think it's the best thing I've ever written.
Alcoholism is so fucking glamorized by certain entertainers. Any of us that truly understand alcoholism by having to have dealt with a loved one or to have truly been an alcoholic understands that glamour and alcoholism aren't two words that go in the same sentence.
Waking up having pissed yourself on your kitchen floor isn't cute. But talking about how much you drank last week is.. I am such an alcoholic. I got trashed 4 days last week. Oh... My.... God right?
So, if people are so intrigued by addiction, what is one addiction that most people could be repulsed by in general via their own uneducation about true addiction... FOOD!!!
I rarely get this confident about what I write, so someone, please, give me a fucking high five and a nice pat on the ass. I deserve it. I guarantee, this will be my first published story.
