they said "THAT THIS WAS THE LAST JOB I WOULD EVER HAVE."
it certainly is the most fun job i've ever had. i can say that everytime i walk into that door that i'm glad to be there..
about 4.6 years ago i walked into the testing facility of delta airlines technical operations department in atlanta to take several mechanics exams along with 20 other people. everyone was dressed in suits and i was in a pair of khakis, a dark blue sweater, a white collarded shirt under and my ll bean barn jacket. the others told me that i wouldn't make it because of the way that i was dressed. they failed to realize that i was already employed with the company and was just simply wanting to better myself with a great job responsibility. only 2 of us walked out with passing marks, one of them was me. i simply walked over to the guy who taunted me and said "where does your voucher say to go to"
he replied "the airport"
i said "mine says tech ops"
and i walked away.
this used to be a company based on family values, but now things have changed. we've got executives who have raped the employee benifits and pensions only to secure their own. executives to continue to collect bonuses when the company loses money. slack ass people who work in the ATL hangars who would rather see their fellow mechanics and pensions and benifits and job security be taken away than to pick up a god damn AMFA union card to atleast have a say in what happens to ones life.
rah. 6000 - 7000 jobs to be cut company wide, we just don't know what the numbers are for maintenance. i hate the feeling of being hung out in the breeze for this long wondering if and when i'm going to be furloughed. meh.
i think this upcoming news and it's evenutal aftermath is what has been completely fucking me and my sleep up. i hate to leave shitty journal entries, but this kind of crap is the stuff that goes on right now. aside from the good things and people on here.
