so i went to the movies last night, by myself, after buying myself a drink at the pub next to my dorm. notice a trend?
anyway, i finally saw Kill Bill Vol. 1. the acting is over dramatic, the lines are pure pastiche, the violence is over done to the point of ridiculousness... it was fucking great. i loved awful Kung Fu movies as a kid, and this is like seeing them taken to the next step. i must have laughed through the entire movie.
to say the least i was pleased... and it has a Tarantino soundtrack - fucking brilliant. really can't wait to see Vol. 2, cause the only thing worse/better then bad Kung Fu movies is Italian Westerns.
anyway, this week has been fairly good to me so far. the parents visit went smoothly and quickly - amazing how much more amiable they are towards me when i am five hours away. monday opened with my favorite artistic inspiration from this sight. Quinne still manages to convey exactly the look i need for Stacia Brennar, so yaay for her. and then today the newest Planetary came out. Warren Ellis never ceases to astound me with his amazing story telling, and John Cassady's work gets better with every issue. all of you should be reading Planetary, its better then anything i'll ever create.
which brings me to another topic: it appears Warren's on going narrative about the astounding Prof. Cartwright will be on hiatus. i awoke this morning with a strange tale of a professional killer out to commit suicide and the people who want to get him first unreeling inside my head in a bizarre Raymond Chandler-esque type style. so i need to get some of that out before the voices in my head will tell me what is going on in Cartwright's strange world. don't worry, i haven't given up on their adeventures yet... there is still too much to tell before i can leave that place completely.
in other news, i no longer look like a consumptive Harry Potter. i now look like a consumptive Harry Potter who has gone through chemotherapy. thanks to the extreme pussiness of my room mate i find myself without hair. i look very much like a dead thing... its funny as hell.
well, new fucked up voices are calling inside my head for their words to be put down, so i will leave you all with that. maybe in a couple of days i'll show you how i am doing with my new work.
i still hate October, just not as much.

the pro-killer/suicide story sounds like a great premise, so i wish you luck with it. and don't be so hard on yourself - your storytelling will only get better with practice, and at 21, you needn't be in any hurry to become some big, huge artist right now. it all starts with making yourself and your friends happy. they're the first people who read you.
have not seen kill bill, yet, but will. i've made my uneasy aesthetic peace with tarantino. a person i know here in la did props for that film. he even has a katana autographed by him and uma thurman. god, he had beautiful weapons all over his apartment.
so anyway, you take care. get the words out.
