the police are on strike in Brazil again, and the airport in sao paulo is shut down, so my capoeira mestre is going to be late in coming home. Poor Efraim in the airport.
When I was in Brazil in 2001 the police in the state of Bahia, where I was were on strike, (airports went on as normal). Man as much as some folks complain about the police, at least ours don't go on strike. and holy crap, the statistics about the brazilian police are terrifying. like how frequently they draw their gun, and how often if they have to fire the person dies-- like 100% there- they shoot to kill.
After I was there for almost 2 weeks they called out the army and there were tanks in the streets and guys driving around in trucks with heavy artilary, holy crap. men with machine guns everywhere.
and we don'thave to worry about the army or the police throwing a coup either.
I hope this all resolves peacefully, like it has before.
we need our Efraim back.
on another note-
I'm really surprised no one has yelled at me for the "never met a damned woman who wasn't jealous" part of that song. hehe, at least when I sing it I can say "man" instead.
anyway, I'm goin to read the news on brasilian yahoo...
