Discovered that crows like pancakes but their favorite so far is scrambled eggs. At least they scatter the pancakes all over the neighborhood so they can eat them later. I have a neighborhood murder[flock] of 5, the junior member has to stand watch and only gets to eat the leftovers. Crows are very social and take care of each other in the murder. They enforce the order mercilessly tho, if the watch lets a preditor pass and attack the hierarchy, the watch is killed as an example to the new guy not to let it happen again. Last week, when it was cold, I gave them a bunch of beef fat to fuel them in their travels. They are still very wary and won't come around if they see me, very sneaky, very intelligent. They are too big for the cats to bother[nearly 20 inches tall], but they alarm if they see a cat paying undue attention. II'm hoping to eventually get them to trust me enough to let me near when they're scavenging, but that will tke a long time I think. They survive by their wits and instincts and I'm sure they have many reasons to fear people.
Update, the murder has six members now counting the watch.
