Drove to New Orleans Friday night to attend a wedding in the French Quarter Saturday evening. Drank allot of great French wine and ate a million oysters and crab claws. The weather was quite warm and no rain or snow or anything else nasty for a patio reception. I was really amazed at how immaculately clean the French Quarter is now. Apparently the tourist trade is very important, at least more important than urban renewal. The rest of the city has spots of recovery, but generally its still a ghost town. The worst part is that with the money already spent, each home owner could have had 1.2 million dollars in there hands. Wonder where all that money went? Lottsa Beemers and Lexi runnin' the streets past boarded up houses. Where're they goin'? To a freshly refurbished casino? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the casinos got all fixed up really quick also. Wonder where all that money went? If your a tourist please bring your money, they still need it. The trickle down is slow, but it's the only way they can recover. The robber barons have to let go of some of it. New Orleans will be back. They've been recover'n for hundreds of years. For me and my beautiful Acadien its right up there with Paris and Montreal. We will always love that beautifully imperfect city.
