Okay so this entry is going to be a bit different. Actually it's going to be a little insight into the elusive past of Alex Star....
So I'm finally updating my MySpace today. No reason other than I really liked one of the newer SG Themes, and I wanted to put it on something. So on a whim I checked on the 'school' function, and put in both my high schools. Anyway, I started to reminisce.
I never graduated High School, and I went to two different ones. Now I didn't move around a lot, and I didn't flunk out. Actually I got accepted to several major universities based on my ACT scores (couldn't afford to go, and didn't want to leave the country).
I guess I should start by explaining the two schools thing. It all starts with the "I was unpopular" bit, and since I don't want pity I'm not going to go any farther into that. Well I made it two full years in my first HS before I got jumped by a group of three kids in one of the lower hallways (I probably deserved it). After getting a nice big scar on my left shin courtesy of a switchblade, followed by therapy, and a veyr shitty summer I transfered to my second HS.
It was actually fantastic, my life was far better than it had been all around (story for another time). I should have graduated in 1999, and my life was back on the right track. I even had a date for PROM! Then a little incident happened in Columbine High School in Colorado. I was following it very closely, because someone very, very close to me lives in Denver.
Then things went wrong, for some reason some Junior girl decided to play a joke. She told the Vice Principle that I had made a bomb threat. I'm not going to argue my innocence, because this is just a ridiculous allegation. The next three days were sheer hell for me.
It started with me being called down to the office where I got lectured on 'responsiblities', and that there are certain things you don't say in public. WHAM! Saturday Detention... I was pissed. I wrote the VP a very nasty letter telling him that it wasn't fair that I was being accused, and punished for something I didn't do. He called me down again, and lectured me AGAIN!
So I decided to let it go. Then just like the movies I got a reprieve. I was hanging out around the school that same Friday with some of my friends. The Vice Principle came up to me and told me that he knew I probably didn't say anything, AND HE LET ME OFF THE HOOK! I was stoked, I couldn't believe that justice actually won out. So I proceeded to have a fun time hanging out with my friends.
Then once again, just like the movies everything went to hell again. I got home that night only to be confronted by my mother. Apparently some smartass decided to call the 'Hotline' that the school district had set up. Well, more like one of the kids who accused me decided to blurt it out over dinner and their parents freaked.
So I was back in the school on Sunday morning confronting a table full of people. School Board Officials, Teachers, and Cops... The police were combing the school for bombs, and were searching my house while I was being interrogated. I didn't even know what to say in my defense, I was in complete shock. I understood why the school district did what they did, safety first. I don't blame them or the police at all for the steps they took.
I ended up getting arrested right there at the school, and spending my Sunday afternoon in a holding cell. I made bail, and ended up getting all of 30 hours community service for the whole ordeal. 30 hours community service is nothing, it's almost the bare minimum that I could have gotten. It turned out that none of the witnessess could really 'confirm' the story. However, I had to be made an example of. I ended up dropping out of school, I didn't want to go back and face that again.
It was rough, I won't deny it. To be truthful had the whole ordeal happened to me three years earlier I might not have survived it. But the events, and experiences of our lives shape who we become. I am happy with who I am.
So if you bothered to read this I hope you found it interesting at the very least. Sorry if it isn't up to my usual standard.
