Robber is found guilty 32 times

He knocked, forced his way into the apartment, pulled a knife and robbed the disabled resident.
The next day the robber returned, punched the resident and held him up again.
Days later he came back. The victim handed over his money.
A Jackson County jury convicted Perry Lewis on Friday of 32 crimes, including those three robberies and 12 others. It took a judge five minutes to read all the guilty verdicts.
Perry terrorized and robbed a dozen persons at a dozen Kansas City apartment complexes from 2003 to early this year. His average take was about $50, prosecutors said. He took a few dollars and a beer from a law student. He stole more than $400 from the disabled man.
One of the convictions was for sexual misconduct because Lewis, 44, groped a woman he robbed. He also has a separate case pending for rape, burglary and robbery.
Assistant Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters-Baker said she would ask for extensive prison time on the convictions, which include several burglaries and counts of armed criminal action.
Most victims who gathered the courage to testify against Perry obviously were still afraid when they came to court, she said.
A robbery is not just a property crime, she said, but a traumatic event that strips away a sense of security forever.
Defense lawyer Todd Schultz declined to comment.
Occasionally Lewis robbed women in stairwells, witnesses said, but mostly he knocked on doors and got people to unlock them with comments like Are you a Christian brother?
