aFOS shows were both poorly attended, but loads of fun nonetheless (quality over quantity!). As it turns out, we were competing with the Locust/Mr. Quintron bill in BOTH cities on both nights, ugh. Friday in Austin was a drunken fiasco I was covered in beer and sweat and extremely sore the next day. Saturday in Dallas was unfortunately, not drunk enough and the drummer decided to play everything at double speed (go figure), the other singer/guitar player was being totally surly (and funny as shit), and there were like 6 people there that weren't in other bands. Still, I had a fucking blast and stayed out till 6am drinking and goofing off w/ the other band folks. Yeah!
I picked up the first Reigning Sound LP in austin (feat: Greg Cartwright from the Oblivians/Compulsive Gamblers), and it's fucking blowing me away! It's so much mellower, but the songs kill and it's REALLY sad (I'm a sucker for sad songs). Jesus, "goodbye" gives me chills.
Today's playlist: Reigning Sound (duh!), the new Hot Snakes (they're playing this weekend - yaaay!), RFTC, the Charley Patton boxed set, Company Flow, Jesus and Marychain, and the new Speedball Baby (check out their site - www.speedballbaby.com to dl a couple tracks off it, oh and BTW, I designed the site!)
