The Rockaround was a blast. I got to meet Tuffy, Demolition Kitten and Strawbettie in person after "knowing them" online for years. Great folks, lotsa laffs, drinks consumed & even a couple games bowled together. Personal band highlights were Reigning Sound, the Monks, and the Bobbyteens. I'm sure 5678's would be listed too if I could remember their set. My girlfriend and I got to meet Terre T from WFMU ( I recognized her voice, believe it or not) - she was really really cool. We ate massive amounts of food (that buffet @ the Rio is fucking INSANE!), played a little blackjack & slots (broke even for the most part) and saw tons of really tacky shit. I looked for but never ran across Jumpin' Jack - bummer.
On sunday, we went to the Shark exhibit (@ Mandalay Bay - it rocks!) & there was this goofy couple wearing matching football jerseys that said BUSH (the jersey number was 43 - awwww, how cute!). I overheard this little snippet of their conversation - no fucking kidding, I swear this was what they said.
Goofy Republican Woman (Standing in the all-around water tank, marveling at all the fish): Honey, can you imagine Noah getting 2 of each one of these on the Ark?
Goofy Republican Man: Well, honey - I don't suppose he had to seeing as it was a flood, and these are fish.
Priceless...
go listen!
