My friend had to return her zoo uniform today, so in exchange for a ride she snuck me in through the back entrance and we spent the afternoon meandering around the slightly ghetto SF zoo. I'm always torn about how I really feel about zoos. Being a huge animal lover its great to see so many up close and in one location. But at the same time they really shouldn't be locked up in some cage for us to watch, they should be out in the wild where they belong. And at the same time their "wild" area is quickly dwindling due to our dumb human-asses and perhaps the only safe place for them is in our zoos. God, I just don't know what to feel. . ..
Either way, I went to the zoo and some some awesome animals. End of story.
Flamingos

Sad primates

Gorgeous cats

I feel like I should add that this tiger was in a small cage for his feeding time, but apparently he wasn't hungry since his slab-o-meat was still on the floor. Normally he is kept in a nice outdoor exhibit.
...And many other caged animals.
Plus I got lots of juicy behind the scenes stories from Kate, including ones about killer birds
