Probably the only semi-conservative attitude I have is with respect to guns. I fully support waiting periods, background checks, even shit like biometric locks. And I have no earthly idea why any locality would let Joe average carry concealed. But I think firearms ought to be freely available. You can argue all you want about the 2nd amendment specifically referring to a "well-regulated militia" and how the National Guard fill that role, but the guys who wrote it had just fought a revolution. They knew well the tyranny of the state. Perhaps they were counting on the adversarial relation between the states and the federal government, expecting that state militia would be the deterrent against encroachments by the federal government. Obviously, we can't rely on such an adversarial relationship anymore.
I don't belong to the NRA, I don't buy Soldier of Fortune magazine, and I don't spend my spare time stripping and re-assembling my gun - an Auto Ordnance model 1927A1 "Tommy Gun" - blindfolded. Shit, I haven't even had it out of its box in years. But if we find ourselves again fighting against an oppressive government, I know it's there.

k. 'nuff of that. I got up early enough this morning that I was able to mow the lawn before I left the house. I much prefer to do it in the morning while it's still cool. And I still got to work at 11. Work is going fucking great. RTF is quickly falling before the unrelenting press of my preternatural coding skills. Here's the status report I sent to my boss:
"I'm working on RTF shapes. Holy crap, it's looking good. Definitely some tweaks to go, though."
I'll prob'ly take the holy crap out of tomorrow's, 'cause that's the one he distributes to all of Product Development.
