Apple Store < My Foot!
Current mood: accomplished
So my iPod crapped out on my the other day. I would boot it up and I would just get the "Hardware Error" icon that means that something is wrong, and the iPod isn't going to work. So I checked online and they told me to try a few things, none of which worked, so I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at the U-District Apple store.
I get there, tell my problem, and the guy takes a look at my iPod in their backroom to try a few things to see if it can get up and running again. A few minutes later he comes back and apparently something is wrong with my logic board. Laaame. So what can be done abut it? Well, it's out of warranty... so I could either take it to a third party place that can maybe repair it for a hundred bucks or so, or trade it in for 10% off a new iPod. Not exactly the options I was looking for. I mean, I spent my own hard-earned graduation money on this thing! It should work! And if it doesn't, I shouldn't have to suffer the financial consequences!
So I said thanks anyways, booted it up again... same sad icon... so I did what any frustrated iPod owner would do. When I got outside, I started playing hacky-sack with it a bit. Then I kicked it along the sidewalk on my way back to my car.
And when I picked it up again, lo and behold and Aaron Schroeder song was playing! I was stunned at first... so I started clicking around on it and it seemed to be working just fine! I got home, plugged it in the computer to charge it, and my macbook was reading it just fine! I was even able to upload new music onto it!
The moral of the story? My feet are magic. I can honestly say that this is the first time I have ever experienced a case where simply hitting (or kicking) electronics has worked when everything else has failed.
I took much pleasure in retelling my story when Apple emailed me about how my experience at the Genius Bar was.
