I just saw this "homework" and then Marlene's post about Ex-Machina, and I went "Oh, that's the last one I saw, too". But then I thought about it and realised - nope, that's the last one that left an impression. Good movie.
But the last one I saw was "Horns", based on Joe Hill's novel of the same name. I was looking forward to watching Daniel Radcliffe in a new role ever since I saw What If. I loved that funny, quirky romantic comedy and I think our beloved Harry Potter did a great job at not being Harry Potter.
So I looked forward to "Horns", because I loved the book, too. I even made the boyfriend watch it with me. It's a dark fantasy, there's drinking, and smoking, and curse words, and sex, and revenge, and the bloody devil's involved. What could possibly go wrong!? Plus, I talked about it with this graphic novel guy at London Book Fair, and he was all thumbs up for it. He did recommend Rat Queens, which is an awesome comics, so I took his word for it.
At the risk of being the laziest reviewer and a most annoying book nerd, I'll just say this: the book was soooo much better. The movie - meh, you won't be disappointed about completely wasting your time with it, but you won't really be moved by it either.
Let me know if you disagree or you want to share what you (dis)liked specifically about the movie :)
