You might have seen it, ya know the one that shows a chart that states 49.6% of the registered voters didn't vote in the 2016 presidential election and claims that is where the blame must be. Well, for those interested, here was my lengthy response:
"How much of those 'didn't vote' numbers come from voters turned away, votes not counted because of write-ins, or other variables to prevent citizens from casting their votes? Yes, plenty are not involved, for plenty of good reasons - along with irrational ones- yet, with this trying to point blame, I think it is attempting to shift blame not necessarily where it belongs.
But, many of them have valid reasons for not voting, not all to be sure, but plenty do. I abstained for many years myself simply because there were no good politicians in my districts that were worth voting for. Most of them were/are corrupt life-long politicians who ignore their constituents. Plenty people don't vote because the system doesn't work for them. There in lies the significant blame in this situation: corruption.
Good people don't become politicians, or find it extremely hard to do so, because of how the political game is controlled. This system was setup with the good of the many in mind (not really if you think of ANYONE other than a white male of proper Anglo-Saxxon descent, but play along), however, those elected into position create laws that are the antithesis of that. So many laws, in fact, that it is impossible to go a single day without breaking a score of them. (what fucking freedom?) Buy into the two-party system when it just proved in the last presidential election that both majorities are corrupt as fuck? Fuck no.
I do vote and will keep voting, but I will always acknowledge, as I have in the past, that my vote doesn't matter simply due to not being a popular one - despite it being more informed than most. Even IF we got all the people to vote and the elections weren't fucked from the start, we'd still have to deal with that significant percentage of the populace that voted for and still support the current/worst president in US history. Which, also proved in this latest election, the people votes for president do NOT matter and the electoral college is corrupt as fuck.
Yet, things still don't change because "we the people" are complicit, complacent, and careless as fuck. All of these nightmares we endure yet all we do is protest poorly and get arrested, then go on to the next day complacent as ever. Even more so drawn into the divisiveness of our political indoctrination maintaining the 'divide and conquer' technique for those who manipulate, disadvantage, and profit from us. As long as we're at each others throats, or thinking there's nothing we can do, or refusing to do or say anything about it, we're going to destroy ourselves instead of taking down the corrupted and holding them accountable.
So, in short, our species is a pathetic piece of shit, we've done this stupid shit throughout all of history, we're never going to change, we're all going to be dead by the end of the century, and it's too late to prevent mass extinctions across the globe before then. So, we'll keep doing as we do until the next civil war, revolutionary war, world war, or dark age comes around all so that we can continue to never learn from our mistakes and keep repeating them until there ins't anyone around to make mistakes anymore.
Need an example? It wasn't bad enough that kids were being murdered while at fucking school, ya know, because nothing changed. It happened again and again. So, what came next? Child prison camps after forcefully removing them from their families. If anyone thinks this won't get worse as long as all these corrupted cunts remain in power then they are far more gullible, complacent, and ignorant than perceived.
How about another example that proves the overall point and had an even worse impact on many, many more lives? The great depression wasn't bad enough? Nope. So we had the great recession which, after adjusting for inflation and productivity, was multitudes worse than the great depression. And things have only worsened since. Policies haven't changed back to regulations. The commander in queef is bragging about cutting regulations more than any other president. Whether it is true or not isn't important at the moment, because what matters is that is a fucking retarded thing to do if you claim to understand how the fucking economy works! You'll be ensuring one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, economical collapses of all time.
See? We don't learn from our mistakes with intent to not repeat them. We study how those who were responsible got held accountable and we figure out ways to repeat the horrid scenarios without getting busted for it all while making it even worse than before. Hence why we are where we are... trapped by our own greed, vanity, and ignorance... our very hideous nature."
