Fire

My apartment complex caught on fire. Nothing was burned or damaged. I was at work when it all happened. I rolled into my complex and found firetrucks in the parking lot.
Me: What the hell's going on?
Firefighter: That complex over there caught fire. Then the wind spread it to that complex.
Me: Is it out?
Firefighter: Yea, it's out.
Me: Good job.

Variety was supposed to come and hang out with me this afternoon.... but she didn't. And Januar was supposed to call me this evening.... but she didn't. So now I'm just at home, listening to Roger Ebert's commentary track to Dark City for the gazillionth time and ironing my clothes. It could be worse, though. At least my legs haven't been cut off by a train and my apartment hasn't burned to the ground.

In other news, my friend's sister has been arraigned by the FBI on federal drug charges. I've met his family before, and it's a fucked up family when you can say that he is the most well-adjusted member of it.
