Buying and Selling
Last night was fairly interesting. To start off, I went to the Plan II date auction. I sat next to my friend Bruno, who is kind of like Mr. T, except he has a full 'fro instead of a mohawk, he's short, not all that muscular, and gets way more bitches than Mr. T could ever hope. Bruno and I were bidding on a pair of girls when the MC mistakenly awarded the girls to him, even though I had made the final, and therefore highest, bid. Being the gentleman that I am, I offered to pay for the girls and let Bruno take them on a date; Bruno, being the cad that he is, eagerly accepted. It's so nice when you can please your friends.
Afterwards I went with my sister to Trudy's. Along the way I stopped by Antone's and picked the first Franz Ferdinand album for 8 bucks, which I considered a steal. At Trudy's I ordered the Mexican Martini, which, unbeknownst, is a whole shaker full of margarita with a martini glass. It'll get you drunk. Earlier in the day I got a message from a tort lawyer in San Antonio who said he had been informed that I was accepted to law school, and since he was an alumnus of the law school I will attend, he wanted to help me out, so he offered me a job. Nothing terribly exciting, mostly research and court filings, but it means I don't have to worry about finding a job for the summer or a place to live, because the job is in San Antonio and I'll just move back home with my family after my lease runs out.
Later I went to see my friend's band Phoenix Down at Dirty Dog Bar. They recently fired their drummer and hired a replacement. Now, I'll be the first to admit they kind of suck, but I was amazed to hear the change in their sound thanks to a drummer who can keep time. Some of their songs are still pretty hackneyed, but as a group they were much tighter, and they obviously had more fun with one another. I also ran into my friend Trevor who seemed to be in better spirits than the last time I heard from him. He's finished with his community service requirements stemming from his DUI charge, he's gone back to designing, which he enjoys immensely, and he's excited about graduating. Aren't we all?
