Uh, i think this might be a long journal entry, somewhat.
Back from California.....that was a difficult trip. I don't even know what to say about it....it was good to see my family, but there were things about the trip that horribly sucked. Obviously. Like my Grandma saying things that just wrenched at my heart. "I don't know how i'll get along without him." "I still think in 'we' instead of 'me'." "All these flowers are beautiful but they can't make him come back." I just want my poor Grandma to be ok. I think she will be, eventually. He died a week before their 60th anniversary was going to be, so that makes it extra hard. I miss Grandpa.
So that was the first funeral that i had ever been to. And the first death in the family that had really effected me. It was an open casket reception. That was really disturbing. When i first walked in to the room in the funeral home where my grandpa was being "displayed" i thought it was the wrong room since he looked so little like he did in life. I guess it was probably a combination of muscle slack and bad mortician artisrty....... all his wrinkles were gone. As if he was given a face lift. And his mouth looked bad. I guess from what i have heard they have to sew the mouth shut so it doesn't gape open, but it almost looked like they had stretched it into a semi-smile. The funeral home director was sort of creepy too. Semi hunched, older guy, balding, with hair dyed obviously black. Bad maroon suit. It was a family business and his son was working there too....straight backed, almost slightly punk looking (spiked hair), round faced, serious looking 20-something boy. There was really awful music playing the whole time. Cheezy electronic organ music, like something from the movie Brazil. So many family members crying. On the way out i whispered to the younger mortician "this music is really awful." He giggles, then snapped back quickly to his visage of seriousness.
My grandma wanted all of the Grandchildren who were present to be pallbearers, including the girls. She said that it was unheard of to have girl pallbearers back in the day. Even though she is pretty conservative and traditional she still believes women can be whatever they want to be in life.
Blah.
Anyway, i am home......i flew back....i hate flying. Flew from Ontario CA to Oakland where there was a half hour layover, then to Portland. Landing in Portland was the worst, the scariest airplane landing i have had to expirience. As the plane started to descend through the clouds there was hail and snow. And as we got through the clouds it was rainy and windy, the plane kept floundering left and right, and dropping up and down, even until we were really close to the ground. It was like a rollercoaster but painfully obviously without a track. I don't like being in a metal cigar shape with wings in the sky. I know the physics of it all works, but i really don't want to think about it all so much when i am in the airplane. hurk.
So it was a stressful trip. I'm glad its over. And i hope all the pimples are from the horrible hard water in my grandma's house and not stress. Bodily hygeine is more easily fixed than stress.
I think i might switch around my fave SG girls for a while. There are so many awesome ones now. Gadget, Clover, Siv, Malloreigh, James......you guys are amazing, and definately still my favorites. But i have other favorites too so i hope none of you are offended!
Greg bought me an early birthday present.....an N64 with Tetris and Doctor Mario! Ok, any time that is not spent working / having sex / looking at SG / sleeping will now be filled with Tetrisy goodness!!!! Those are the only two console games i am really good at, and i love them for it.
I liked getting back home to everyones answers of my questionaire. You're all so interesting. Its only fair i answer the questions myself now. If you haven't answered the questions yet and you want to feel free, because i love learning random factoids about people. And if you don't want to, then don't.
1. If you were forced at gunpoint to get a tattoo of a well endowed winnie the pooh or a really bad tribal, which would you choose? Winnie the Pooh, only if he was sodomising Barney. Actually, a friend from highschool did have this tattoo....scary, no?
2. How many crushes do you have right now? Enough for all of my fingers and three of my toes.
3. What bad / gross habit do you have, and do you wish you could stop? Chewing my lips and making them bleed out of nervousness. Eating / slurping too loudly. Sighing too often.
4. Ah-ha or Wham? I have a retarded sort of love for Ah-ha. I don't know why. But the video for Take on Me really is awesome.
5. If i seriously wanted to, could i come visit you? If any of you guys want to come visit me it would be awesome, seriously just ask. At least that goes for the people on my friends list.....everyone else maybe not.
6. Do you have any special talents i could utilize for my traveling circus freak show? I snort when i laugh really endearingly. I could make the costumes for the traveling freak show. I could amaze you with my sudden bouts of shyness (usually i am not too shy, but it does happen suddenly sometimes).
7. Are there any types of quirks that put you off of being friends with a person? When sarcasm is so much it is hard to distinguish from pure rudeness / meanness. Also someone being too mean or rude. When girls say "YAY" way too frequently really loudly in a high pitched vioce . Intolerance. Intentional petty dramatizations of situations. Always blaming things on other people. Staring at people too much (although i guess i do this.)
8. What is your most time and money consuming hobby? Sewing, Knitting, Jewelry making, Drinking.
9. sneakers or knee high boots? Knee high sneaker boots? Uh.....actually, knee high boots if i could afford them, sneakers cuz thats what i can afford now.
10. Where is the most interesting location you have had sex? Its a three-way tie: In the KBVR radio station, and in the bed of a pickup in a well-lit parking garage, in a wetland.
11. What are you listening to right now (or what do you have stuck in your head)? Listening to the sounds of Tetris in the background, In my head Belle and Sebastian's "Judy and the Dream of Horses"
12. Are you a geek? If so, what are your areas of geekspertise? I am an arts and crafts geek......i like all things related to those subjects. Also: I read comics. I like sci-fi movies. I am dating a hot geek boy, he's more the computer adn science geek type. Any forms of geekery are good by me.
13. What is your favorite smell? Fresh ground coffee, pumpkin pie spices, fresh cut grass, eh....varies according to mood though.
14. If the draft is reinstated, what would you do? Grab Greg (and any other willing male friends) and run off to Holland or Germany.
15. What things made you feel happy today (if anything)? Crawling in to bed with Greg. Looking forward to a day without work. Looking forward to calling friends that i missed while in Cali. Hearing birds outside.
16. Do you believe in ghosts? No. I used to in middle and high school, but i don't at all anymore.
17. Do you think more verbally or visually? Visually, but its both. As far as memories go, i can remember what the even looked like and felt like, but not anything that you said.
18. Can you smell / taste / read / see color in your dreams? Yes.
19. Do you prefer humorous or serious people? Both....sometimes i am too serious and it is good to have humorous people around to lighten my mood.
20. What is the saddest thing you can think of on the spot? My Grandma wandering around at 7 in the morning, touching and looking at all the photos of Grandpa.
Ok this is really just the start of my day.....you guys take care....
