I've been really busy trying to get through my work load of late. I feel overwhelmed at times with how much I need to get done, then depressed at how hard it can be to get money from my clients. I go to sleep at night with my iPod on to help turn my brain off long enough to fall into slumber. The down side is that I don't sleep deeply when I do that so the little sleep I get leaves me feeling unrested. Is that a word? It is now.
I've been doing some soul searching during this time. It seems almost ironic that when I was younger I really wanted to be a pastry chef. The thing that stopped me was the realisation that I'd need to get up really early in the mornings. Here I am now, going to sleep between 2am and 4am most days, and getting up again between 6am and 7am. Maybe I should have gone with the cakes after all
I've been trying to make some extra me time and family time of late. The boys are growing up so fast, and I'm not getting any younger. The youngest is starting to gain confidence with his words and he's talking more and more each day. The elder is still testing boundaries and seeing just what he can get away with. I look at him and see myself at his age. I must have been such a handful for my parents.
Californication is back on, so I've been making a point to stop and watch it. I haven't been disappointed so far
I've also got some doco's recorded that I need to get around to watching.
The weather has been weird. We're seeing unusually cool days for Summer. Last year we had days on end where the thermometer pushed 45C (113F) through the day and barely dropped below 38C (100F) in the night. This year I can only think of two occasions when the mercury has reached 43C. Today was gorgeous; a little rain, but very pleasant outside. I didn't see the temperature, but I'm guessing it didn't get over 26C. I hope it stays like that tomorrow (err, today) as well so that I can get some yard work done, and play outside with the kids.
I only have two more websites immediately in the pipeline. Once they're done I'll need to drum up some more business if nothing comes in during that time. If we can get a little extra cash, and the weather stays this nice, I think we'll go camping for a few days just to get out of the house.
