Where did the last week go? I only had two major projects that I was working on last week. I managed to finish off one of them thankfully, so now the fun begins trying to extract money from their tightly clenched fists. The second project is bugging me a bit. I took it on because I knew we'd need the money. Since then, this client has been really annoying. I give him time lines and he completely ignores them and calls me up ahead of schedule to ask when I'll be finished. This gets old quickly. I'd planned on doing quite a lot of work on his site on Saturday. Unfortunately we had a power outage that last from lunch until just before dinner time. It was 38 degrees C in the house and I barely got anything done that I wanted to.
We had a Christmas party to go to that night. It was a great opportunity to get out of the house and we were looking forward to catching up with some friends. When we arrived I noticed "the client" and his wife there. I couldn't believe it. I waved hello from a distance then he pounced on my wife demanding his website to be finished! I couldn't believe it. We still have about 4 weeks left before we quoted him having it online, and there's maybe 2 weeks of work left it I stayed at it solidly. I kept things polite but a few people pulled me aside that night and asked me if he was for real? I really hate being a slave to money.
Despite that we still had a nice time. The boys were exhausted so we got out of there by 9. That was later than what I'd expected, and probably a good indicator of just how nice the evening was.
Today was another hot one, except that it rained all day. The eldest boy crawled into bed with me this morning for a cuddle. I could smell "something" in his hair and when quizzed about it he said he's been cooking. I didn't expect that to be a good thing, and I was right. He'd got in the pantry and opened a packet mix chocolate cake. The powder was all through the dishwasher, and over the sink. Ugh. Four year olds. His intentions were great, but his execution was lacking. We go through something like this every morning of late. It's a given that he'll find something he shouldn't be doing, and he'll do it. It'll pass in time.
Tomorrow is supposed to be much like today. Hot and raining. At least the eldest boy will be at school for half a day. That'll let me get caught up from Saturday I hope.
That's about all I can remember right now. I'm not trying particularly hard though. It's a little before 2AM on Monday morning. The boy will be awake in around 6 hours, then off to school a couple of hours after that. I have about another hours work to get through before I hit the hay, then I'll be crossing my fingers that I can turn my head off enough to get a solid 3 hour sleep in.
My break is over. No time to do the social thing tonight, or peruse the latest sets
Maybe another night this week
Back to the grindstone.
Hmmm. I just noted that this shows up as 7:16AM when it's 1:46AM on the 6th, here. I can't see anywhere in the settings to localise my time zone either :/ Does anyone know if that's possible?
