This is gonna be a long one....
So this week was insane. So I went to San Diego for work on Tuesday, which required me getting up before the buttcrack of dawn. I got home around 6:30 and waited for my brother and his girlfriend to pay me for the bills. That didn't happen so I went to sleep. Next thing I know, I was up- the doorbell rang and I was hearing yelling and screaming. My brother and his girlfriend were having a HUGE fight. My brother was drunk and crying, she was crying and her sister was yelling at both of them. Then her sons, her brother and nephew are there. Essentially she was using my brother for money during the course of the relationship and he was jealous and controlling during the relationship. Truth be told it was unhealthy and they both played a part in the demise of the relationship. I was freaked out because she said that he talked about killing himself. So of course I was freaked out. He was so angry and she didn't deny anything that he was saying- for example, that she was just using him for money- she never said that he was full of shit- I believe it was true. She lived here for over a year and never paid rent and definitely didn't pay for any of the bills she helped create. Anyway, hours later (about 12:30) she was moving out and he was crying and yelling and crazy. After they were gone, I made him promise that he was not going to hurt himself but of course, I could not sleep well at all. I woke up almost every half hour before I got up at 3:30.
I had to be up that early to head up to Ventura for the rest of the week for work. This leads to the next part of the story...
So, we get up there and work. We check into the hotel- it's called the Pierpont Inn. It's the oldest hotel in the city and is a landmark., yada yada, yada. It was really nice. Well my coworker and I go to our room after dinner and it was frickin' freezing. So we called the front desk and they had no extra blankets at all. The only positive thing was that the beds were awesome- the mattresses were made of that memory foam material and were insanely comfortable. It was also an ocean-view room and it was peaceful to watch the waves crashing against the shore.
We get through the next day and learned that the maintenance crew could not fix the heater. So we changed rooms. We were upgraded to a suite. The heater worked very well. We went to the group dinner and got drinks at the hotel bar afterward. My roomie decided she was gonna turn in. So our other coworker and I decided to go to old town Ventura to bar hop. We talked shop at a sports bar. Then we went to a bar that had a DJ. I spent the better part of the evening trying to determine if this kid was really straight. He was just too metro. I say kid because he is like 8 years younger than me. Anyway, we had a blast. I was a social butterfly and danced a lot. We met a lot of crazy people and I drank more than I have in a long time. Sprite and Blueberry Vodka is so tasty, by the way.
Back at the hotel, my roomie discovered that we had no hot water. So she showered and washed her hair in cold water. While she was blow drying her hair she got chills and kept hearing a tapping noise. So metro boy and I roll back in about 2 am. I went to use the bathroom and no joke, the toilet was hot. I mean the seat was burning up and it felt like my back side was getting a facial (if you will). Seriously, there was steam and condensation. My butt was actually sweating when I got up after peeing. Sorry for the details but there is no other way to express the craziness of it.
Yes I was hurting when I got up at 5:30, but I was more tired than hung over. So my roomie tells me about the freaky shit she experienced and we talked about the crazy toilet. One of the guys at the office asks us if we saw any ghosts. Apparently this hotel is haunted. The tapping my roomie heard was not the building settling- although we thought it was age because it is 100 years old. Freaky, right?
The whole drive home we read about the different paranormal stuff that occurs at this place. Literally, if we had not switched rooms, I probably would have seen the ghost of this woman who is frequently seen there when I got back to the room. I doubt I would have stayed there if I read all this beforehand.
Anyway, I got home and am pleased to find my brother trying to work through his breakup without the aid of alcohol. He is hurting, but he is talking to me and not being the drama queen I was expecting. Now he just needs to pay me and I will be all good. As for the ex she left some stuff here and she won't be getting it unless she pays me. I hate to harp on money, but I can't even pay my own bills responsibly because of this. It sucks.
I am so happy for this weekend. Aside from a lot of rest, I am an auntie again! My best friend and her hubby welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world this morning. This makes girl number 3. I can't wait to meet her!
Hope y'all had a great week and have a happy weekend.

As for your haunted hotel room, that sounds like some freaky shit. Shame you didn't see a full on ghost or anything, that would be awesome. I've never had much contact with the paranormal myself, but I've always wanted to.
