i have been getting emails from the career development office lately... inviting me to career fairs. i am a senior now and will graduate in may. the career fairs will be very helpful if they were aimed for more artistic people. the fairs are targeted for engineers and business people and such. sigh... and all i want to is dAnce. i think i want a side job in the theatre too. like stage hands or something. i like to paint too so maybe i can be an assistant for a scenic painter for the theatre.
but yes, my passion lies in dance and theatre.
so here is my dilemna. i have to pick a city to move to in may. the world is so wide with sO many cities. i can't decide which one i want to move to. sigh.... i am interested in new york city and amsterdam at the moment. i feel they both have a lot of dancing going on to keep me busy and happy. does anybody know a fierce ass city that is dancer/artist friendly? oh and it will be a huge plus if they are tattoo friendly too. i dont think new york dance is tattoo friendly. thats my problem. i am planning to get a huge ass tattoo on my back soon. hee hee.
ahhhh yes. but my dream job in 20 years when i can't be a fierce ass dancer anymore, is to work at a foster home. my buddhist mommy is gonna open a foster care center in new york city in about 10 years. and she asked me if i want to help her. it'll be awesome! there are too many kids who are deprived of proper love that they should be guaranteed when they are born. i was fortunate enough to have my dance family give me lots of love. but not everybody is that lucky. so i want to be a part of making sure kids get loved. i know how much it sucks to have to worry about where to spend the night everyday.

oh, and NYC is not an easy place to go to live if youre a dancer, i have many friends who are now dancing strip joints trying to get into broadway and the like... :i dont know much about amsterdam but the obvious, hookers and drugs...i guess i am ignorant of a dance market out there?
you have the right idea by staying in emersed in the culture of theatre, you can always make connections that way and one day someone will see you dance. Wonderful things can happen if you surround yourself in the environment you want to live in. too many people want to do things but they settle for odd jobs that have nothing to do with what they want or love...stick with, and enjoy the struggle...struggle is good, its why we are alive...
