On this the last day of 2005... my wishes, hopes and thoughts for a new year.
I have seen the world come together for people they have never seen - the tsunami relief effort is an example of how strong we are as a collective (just look at ants!)... my wish is for that to continue!
I have seen this nation stand by in horror while we watched our fellow Americans suffer - as did our President from his vacation... truly deplorable.
I wish for our country to come together, to spend less time on pointing fingers, and for more time healing the rifts within.
I hope we can continue to make public the atrocities towards women in other parts of the world - and to say to men everywhere - women have just as many rights, there is no such thing as a honor killing.
I hope that our country continues to improve those lives which cannot speak for themselves - that our treatment of animals becomes more humane, and that all our furry and feathered creatures have more rights.
On a personal level I hope my health is better, so I can continue to be a better man, father, husband, friend... and I hope to be better able to understand when others are not.
I strive to improve with each new year - to look forward instead of back, to harbor no ill will, to help others.
Have a wonderful night, and a very Happy and Healthy New Year... be the very best you that you possibly can be.
