I bought my car, a Nissan pickup, brand new in 1995. Now it has about 170k miles on it. I've spent less than $1200 in non-scheduled maintenance (tires, oil, brakes, etc.) in all that time. It's never left me stranded. I love my car. It's The Rooster. The center of the steering wheel came off about 5 years ago, so now if you want to honk the horn you have to push the metal contact down and it shocks you. The glove compartment doesn't open. The defroster switch doesn't work. Bent but not broken, you cannot keep it down!
A couple of days ago, the back lights would not go off. I've never heard of this happening to anyone I know. Turns out, some kind of sensor under the brake pedal had worn out. My mechanic could repair it, so it didn't have to be replaced, and it only cost me $45. You can't kill The Rooster.
