Good morning lovelies! How is everyone's Tuesday?
First things first...did you know I have a
Facebook page?
Twitter?
deviantART?
Tumblr?
Now there is no excuse to never be even more connected with my daily activities!
I have been a busy bee lately....school, work, crafting, photo journeys, BBQ'in, hanging with friends...all of my days are running together! I actually thought it was Monday up until 30 seconds ago! Ha ha. That's life, right?
School has been incredible. I am really enjoying the two artsy fartsy classes I am in. Wood turning is tons of fun and actually quite therapeutic. Something about standing in front of a lathe with tools and making different designs and shapes is awesome. Right now I am working on my lighting assignment and am creating two bedside table lamps out of black maple. Beautiful pieces of wood! I just as the point of rounding out my posts and hopefully today I will get some design work done. I also getting ready to work on creating the bases for my lamps. I went to the craziest lighting shop the other day in North Portland and had my first experience with the "crazy light bulb lady". Holy shit. Part of me was begging to fuck out of there as soon as possible, but the other part of me wanted to stay and just watch.
I am also in a very conceptual text and image class. Basically how to identify typefaces, how text works in the environment, and how one perceives text/images on a daily basis. It's a little hard to really explain, but the assignments and reading are incredibly eye opening. Our first assignment was to use our artistic mediums (photography is mine) and find a way to incorporate text onto or for that medium. I decided to use a shot I took of two espresso shots being pulled.
We got to spend a day learning how to use the letterpress with wooden type. We were asked to recreate the "hobo sign" with something we would want our signs to say if we stood there at the end of the freeway.
Our most recent assignment was to incorporate text into the environment, but in a non permanent way. I became a street artist that day
I crafted on my own.
I bought six (yes, SIX) boxes.
This is other shizz that's happenin'!
New work.
Winters Light is a beautiful set that I shot with DarrylDarko in my own house at the time and I am so happy you all helped make it front page material!
Now you literally know everything I have been up to! A blog worth the wait, right?
