So many good things are happening for me right now.
In my feature and magazine writing class, we're required to research a magazine to find one appropriate for an article we'd like to write. The idea is to query the magazine like any freelancer would, and try and get the article published. I want to do a story on the five-star energy home in Deerton, and I found the perfect publication for it - BackHome Magazine. Professor McCommons said typically 1 or 2 people from each class get published; I am determined to be one of those people.
The North Wind is going well this week. My story isn't done and I have a lot of homework to do, but I know I'll get my shit done. I always do. What's exciting for me is Rob is getting his act together. The editorial was done tonight - a Tuesday!
This weekend I'm going to get my scholarship in Grand Rapids. That will be exciting. My dad is coming to watch me accept it and I get to pass out my resume and hob knob with the pros.
I think I decided I am staying in my apartment over the summer and next year if I can. I want to work for the Mining Journal and freelance maybe...I think I'd have to have another job on top of that, but I could work part-time no problem. I really like Marquette in the summer. It's about the only time I do absolutely love it here.
I haven't felt bogged down by people lately. Mostly because I haven't seen many. I haven't thought much about boys. Haven't really thought much about anyone, really. I like it that way. Maybe it's selfish but I'm doing so well right now. I don't need a lot of the things I used to think I needed to get by. It almost stressed me out more.
And hey...you...you know who you are...thanks a million for all your help tonight. My project proposal wouldn't have been the same without you.
