From an old journal of Lisseth's. I've been meaning to do it for a while now.
Step 1: Open your MP3 player.
Step 2: Put all of your music on random.
Step 3: Write down the first 20 songs it plays, no matter how embarrassing.
1. NIN- You know who you are?
Off the newest NIN album. Really good song.
2. Neil Young- Keep on Rockin(in the free world)
I hated Neil Young when I was in grade 9, because of this song. Now he's one of my favourite musicians
3. Weezer- We're all on Drugs
Probably my favourite Weezer song released in thier last two albums.
4. George Carlin- Usage of the word Fuck
Funny as hell comedy bit. I used to quote from this all the time in high school
5. One Minute Silence- Holy Man
This song came out during my aggresive anti-christian phase. The songs still okay; but not something I listen to on a frequent basis
6. Blur- Girls and Boys
Though most real Blur fans hate this song, I like it. I used to play this song on my headphones and walk by the jocks in my high school on purpose, just to provoke a reaction.
7. Mudvayne- Happy
Aggressive metal that has some degree of intelligence behind it. A novel concept I'm told.
8. Bud Light Presents- Mr. Male football cheerleader
Funny comedy thing about armchair athletes
9. System of a Down- Toxicity
SOAD is one of those bands that I discovered a long time ago. It's funny, because I tried to get all of my friends to listen to them, and everyone yelled at me for it being noise. Now everyone buys the albums the day the album comes out.
10. Pearl Jam- Daughter
My favourite Pearl Jam song. And I like this version(acoustic) much better than the electric one.
11. The Editors- Munich
An indie band from England. Apparently they'e somewhat popular there. Good upbeat indie rock.
12. Christina Aguilera- Beautiful
I don't care what anyone says, I like this song. The lyrics are positive and about good self esteem, which is a different concept amongst teen orientated music, and the fucking girl can sing like a motherfucker.
13. Otep- My Confession
Most of my friends don't like femal vocalists, but I do. This is a metal band that features a female vocalist that can metal growl with the best of them.
14. Office Space- What do you here?
The scene where they interview about his job and he flips out. Funny stuff
15. Le Tigre- Deceptacon
The first time I heard this song was at Fouf's bar in Montreal. It was the first time I'd ever left the province by myself, to visit my girlfriend at the time. We went and danced till two in morning(I don't even like to dance), then made love till like 10 in the morning. This song has positive memories for me.
16. Tori Amos ft. Maynard- Dew Drop Inn
I generally don't like Tori Amos (I don't think I'll forgive her for her cover of Teen Spirit) but this song is really good. It's a live version and features Maynard James Keenan from Tool/ A Perfect Circle
17. Lenny Kravitz- Black Velveteen
Lenny's one of those musicians that gets a bad rep. His music is actually pretty good, and this song's lyrics are both sexy, disturbing and thought provoking/
18. Johnny Cash- I'm bound for the promised land
Johnny Cash is the motherfucking man. He was the first musician I ever loved (back when I was like 5). I'm not a religious person, but I can still appreciate the beauty of his gospel music.
19. David Bowie- The man who sold the world
I got this song because of the Nirvana cover. I've grown to like this version as much, if not more so, than the Nirvana version. Which says something because I love Nirvana
20. The Hives- Hate to see I told you so.
Back before they popular, my friend was merch girl for these guys during their Canadian Tour. Hearing them brings back memories of my first summer out of high school.
