Now that I'm done with all my Christmas orders, I can focus on a new series of paintings I'd like to work on (read: not sell) so that I can hopefully have a show!
I really enjoy doing custom orders, but sometimes I have trouble with them & find myself in a rut, unable to finish them. Obviously that is a big problem when you've been paid & need to exercise some degree of timeliness. Mainly I find children's portraits difficult, as children are sweet and cute and I feel boxed in and unable to be very expressive in portraying them. Not all parents are cool & crazy and able to appreciate a more artistic take on their kid's likeness.
Anyways, here's a little preview to my new series. I don't want to describe the theme yet, but this is where it all begins.

So what does everyone want for Christmas? I got myself a portable plein air easel. My mom sent me a bunch of presents, books & art supplies judging from the shape & feel.

I should of got to this sooner. I would of asked for paintings for Christmas. My walls are bleh!
