there were a few mortars falling somewhere nearby, but somehow I know they're not meant for me.

I guess every one of us believes that it'll never happen to us. I for one know it won't happen to me, I have too much to do.

nobody I know wants to be here
we are not here for the oil, or the money
maybe that's why someone sent us here
but mostly we signed up because we thought we could make a difference
that there was something worth believing in

Filled sandbags today, me with all my authority, and guys working for me, back down in the dirt.
Guess things might be getting hotter over here, even though it's raining right now (rain? in the desert?)....we all gotta do our part.
