I wanted to see what they talk about in the SG Pittsburgh group (I am from PGH originally, but never go back), and so I applied today.
In honor of this... Pittsburgh, a haiku:
Yinz goin dawn tawn?
To Mario's to Pawnd Arns?
No, Stiller game.
I've been thinking a lot of Pittsburgh lately. I've got to guess it's because I'm going back there this summer. It's always so bittersweet. I think I'd have a lot more fun if it were just my wife and me, but as it happens, we spend time with the fam, which often negates the fun parts.
Lately I've even been hearing about all this great music from PGH, and it almost makes me wish I could sneak back there secretly, so I could run around and see this other city I've never gotten a chance to see. I just remember the town being really dissappointing, culturally.
That being said, here is Aguilar's list of things I am fully amped for in PGH:
-Primanti's (oh hell yeah)
-Duquesne incline (my wife's never been, and my Grandfather actually saved that thing which is a cool story)
-Motherfucking Italian food (it is mostly shit here on the west coast)
-Have people pay for our stay
-Show the wife my old haunts
-DeLuca's and/or Pamela's (are they still any good?)
-The dirty O
-the Old Church Brew Works (my cousins own that, so it's kinda cool)
-Go to our club (Pegasus! Kidding- Field Club)
-See my Mom & Dad
-Show up not looking quite as overtly offensive as in the past (I am a lot less... ostentatious in my outward appearance as perhaps I once was...) and sit at the grown-up table. Word.
Also, on a Pittsburgh note, I have been teaching myself classic rock anthems on acoustic guitar to perform on Last Thursday here on Alberta... mixed in with originals of great awesomeness.
Among the hits:
"Here I Go Again"- Whitesnake
"Anyway You Want It"- Journey
"Feel Like Makin' Love"- Bad Company
I'm going to kill it. "Talent Clusterfuck".
