I got $1000 today for signing up to do research with an Aerospace Professor. I guess I am doing rocket science now. 
As for Max, I think that he is just socially retarded (probably not potically correct). I talked to Max today, and we talked about friendships and things in general. Max knew that we were growing apart and instead of talk about it he just tried to stop me from making new friends. He didn't really realize that he was doing that, until we talked about it. He apologized and I forgive him, because I know that he doesn't really have great social skills. I probably didn't really explain this that well, but you get the idea.
Now it's time for sleep.

i hope things go better between you and max. resolving things is much better than breaking them off completely, but he no longer has an excuse to be a jerk since he's acknowledged it.
