So this past week, I saw two awesome concerts back to back. I thought I'd share some crappy pics I took and talk about each of the shows for a bit.
The first one I saw was Reel Big Fish on Wednesday. They were freakin awesome! I've seen them a few times before and it always amazes me how crisp they sound, even live. Each one of those guys are amazing musicians and it shows. They played all my favorites like Sell Out, The Set Up(You Need This), She's Got a Girlfriend Now, and I Want Your Girlfriend to be My Girlfriend. They also played S.R. and played the last minute or so of the song several different ways, which was pretty cool. They played it country style, metal style, 50's style, and hardcore punk style. Toward the end of the show, the guitarist from local ska band Suburban Legends came on stage and played a few songs with them. It was a really amazing show overall. My only complaint is that there just wasn't any room to skank! The floor was so packed that when people tried to skank, it just turned into a big mosh pit. Now don't get me wrong, I'm always down for moshing at punk/hardcore shows but I like ska shows because skanking is really fucking fun. Other than not skanking, amazing show.
Here are some iphone pics I took from the pit:

The next show I saw was Thursday ON Thursday! This show was just mind blowing! It is the 10yr anniversary of the release of their first victory records album Full Collapse and they played every song off it. This was like a religious experience for me because Full Collapse is my absolute favorite of all their albums. I'm a long time fan, but I missed when they first toured for Full Collapse. It was so amazing because everyone there knew all the words to every song just like I did. To me, this show was a perfect example of why I go to concerts at all. To see one of my favorite bands play ALL of my favorite songs. To sing along to every song with everyone else. I love that feeling of camaraderie that happens when everyone is singing and you make eye contact with someone and you know that you're both thinking the same thought: "Fuck ya, this is fucking awesome". Then after the band is over, everyone that survived the pit gives head nods and slaps on the back to eachother. I don't get that anywhere else but at a show. Thursday played flawlessly, I felt the music in my soul and just totally let go. It was just epic. I've been seriously horse all day from screaming every song, but it was so worth it. Best show I've seen in a year probably.

and damn straight. i try to do things in a boss-like manner as much as possible.
and oh, oh yes. nothing better than some good music, a bowl and the opportunity to just sit and write (at least for me, a very artistic smoker...haha)
