I am currently listening to a mix cd sent to me by Marc and I am surprisingly enjoying many of the songs. It's somewhat like sad techno music.
All of this social interaction that I've been desiring lately has become a bit of a bust. In other words, it's been pissing me off. People piss me off. But maybe I just haven't found the right ingredients (i.e. the right people). Maybe there's something wrong with me. I didn't do much socializing outside of my last relationship. At any rate, the socializing I've been experiencing has not been living up to its expectations and I'm withdrawing back into my reclusive state. ah well.
Today I went to Dreamhaven Books, which is the sci-fi/comic store that Neil Gaiman goes to when people send him stuff to sign. I spent an obscene amount of time there and I ended up purchasing the first volume of The Invisible and Ghost World.
I'm desperately seeking graphic novels that share the same caliber of intelligence and art as The Sandman and Watchmen. I recently read Alan Moore's V for Vendetta but it didn't completely satisfy me. It was aight. but it left something to be desired.
I absolutely love Blankets but for a completely different reason, though. It's such a somber piece of art. There are drawings in there that just make me melt and teary-eyed. I suggest that anyone who reads this -- the few -- read it sometime. but take your time. You could finish this 500+ page book in one day if you really wanted to. but you have to take your time and soak in each panel. each drawing.
I'm just over halfway through A Prayer for the Dying and I'm enjoying it immensely. Something tells me the protagonist's wife, with whom he just had sex, is dead. errrrrr . . . well. I guess I'll just have to wait and see, eh?
OH! I forgot about one of the characteristics that make a great zombie movie! Group dynamics! A great zombie movie MUST have great group dynamics. How do people act when the world's gone to hell and the laws of humanity no longer apply? oh man. Two other great movies that have awesome group dynamics: Deliverance and Very Bad Things.
Okay, if you're going to use the word "segue" in a condescending manner, it might help if you actually spell it correctly, and not spell it "segway." CHRIST.
uhm. I feel vacant. so I'm going to end this. a rant about irony will be the topic of discussion at a later time. I truly apologize for my vacant entries as of late that are devoid of any personality. I just feel like a blank slate at the moment. soooooooooooooooo peace out!
