Whew! Thursday night I rode straight from work to Tampa and checked into a motel. Friday morning I got up, rode to the airport and went on duty. I flew to Tallahasse and Pensacola, then back to Tallahasse and finally back to Tampa. I went off duty at 11 P.M.
Then I rode back to Orlando! I stopped in Lakeland to eat breakfast at a Waffle House. Let me tell you, the crowd at a Waffle House at 1 A.M. on a Friday night / Saturday morning is a real study in cultural anthropology!
When I made it back to my office I just went to sleep on the floor -- I was too cold and tired to ride the rest of the way home.
Later this morning I got up and got organized for my next trip.
Tomorrow morning I'm going to ride up to Atlanta, where I'll be covering a run for one of our line pilots Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
This is probably going to be my last out-of-state ride for the season and probably the coldest riding of the year for me. Overnight lows in the Atlanta area are forecast to be in the 30s.
I'm scheduled to go off duty each morning at around 4 A.M., so the ride back to the motel is likely to be somewhat frigid. I'll be returning on Thursday.
It sure is nice to live in Florida, where I can ride 365 days a year!
