Got to do a checkride today . . . checkrides are a necessary pain in the ass.
I was in the supermarket Sunday. There are thousands of books and magazines for sale on the subject of health and fitness. It's a billion-dollar publishing industry. Honestly, how much is there to say on this topic? Here is everything anybody really needs to know about health and fitness in one paragraph:
"Eat a wide variety of wholesome, nutritious foods that are low in saturated fat, sodium and processed sugar. You can't go wrong with fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Get regular exercise. Get plenty of sleep. Drink lots of water. Don't smoke."
That's it. If you want a muscle to get bigger, carefully and smoothly stress it to the failure point and then let it rest for a few days so it can grow. If you want to lose a pound of fat, burn 3,500 more calories than you consume. It's all so simple. Why do people buy these books with "revolutionary" new systems for getting fit? I think they're hoping for a secret magic trick that will lead to effortless good looks. "Be a lazy pig and still get lean, firm and strong with the amazing FatZapper MuscleBlaster pill!"
