People talk about how they got started on their instruments and what influenced them and who was a big part of their developmental stage. For me, starting out I had two guys... John Bonham and Neil Peart.
John Bonham has this thunderous attack about his playing that just felt like a freight train passing by a house and you were the only person in it. His playing shook the foundations to the core.
Neil Peart was something that was just untouchable. You could hear this man play and you would know it was him, every single stroke of the stick, every single accent on his ride, every of kick the bass drum. His parts were so well known to drummers and non-drummer alike, during Rush concerts, you could see almost everyone air drumming to the songs..
Today, all drummers, all musicians around the world lost a man of musical integrity and genius, not just the man on the kit, but an artist of lyrical composition and playing an invaluable role in rock drumming evolution and history
RIP Neil Peart.
