Things are looking up. I think. So I went on this non-date last week which all my friends think I should call a "date", even though I don't know whether she thought it was a date or not.
Anyways, I've been trying to figure out whats going on. She doesn't respond to my IMs - I know its stupid that I IM her, she works like 6 cubes over from me but she is surrounded by coworkers and I can never talk to her alone. Everyone seems to advise me that I should ask her out again and see what she says. Well, two days of IMing with no response wasn't a good sign and I was even wondering if she was ignoring me (though I think its kind of ridiculous to assume that). So today I finally got up the courage (and the luck) to talk to her alone. I mentioned that I had IMed her and she said she had been busy and hadn't got the IMs until much later after I sent them. Fair enough. I asked her about her weekend and what she had planned for this weekend. I was in the process of asking her out to dinner (I think I actually asked her - I don't remember) and she mentioned she was planning on going to Providence to see The Dresden Dolls tomorrow - provided one of our other coworkers was going so he could drive her.
So we went to talk to him, cause I wanted to see The Dresden Dolls too. Of course, I have a car too, so I could drive, and I offered. Anyways, I think we convinced him to go, though we'll see tomorrow what he decides. Now that I think about it, it was sort of a neutral experience, she didn't really respond in anyway to my attempt to ask her out. I'm wondering if she is trying to dodge me, hoping I'll just go away.
The good news is that I'm going to see The Dresden Dolls tommorrow!!!
And I'm even MORE excited about seeing The Pixies at the end of November. I got tickets, even though the pre-sale sold out really quicky.
As for my unfortunate love life. I suppose it could be worse. But if I'm going to be rejected, I'd just like to get it over with. I hate being in the dark like this. I hate hate HATE it.
At least, I'll be hanging out with her tomorrow. And while it won't be a date, maybe I can ask her out for Saturday night?
